Topped tree is at 11 feet off the ground, snow accumulates faster at this spot than nearby areas. Subtracting the pole and an extra grip's length (59") shows 73" of snow, other locations show only 46" at this elevation (3400')

A slick crushable base under 8-10 inches of fluffy above 2800 feet. At 3400 it seemed like closer to 12" of fluffies.

The snow was wetter at the bridge and below.

JHyatt might be going up tomorrow

Those of us who prioritized skiing this morning, at the expense of our careers, were not disappointed. The first couple of runs were as good as it gets. This was our last lap through Hayride Woods at Stowe. Starting to get tracked out, but still plenty of powder.

I need to get my priorities straight too. I was working very near a well known BC haunt Thursday and didn't bring my kit. It snowed all day too. :x
I did make it out today and hope everyone else did too. Cold but beautiful!

I love the fact that both you guys got shadow photos, because the sun only comes out once a winter around here. I ventured east of the Connecticut on Saturday to meet a friend at the Bretton Woods touring center. It's been almost 20 years since I've been over there, and I was really impressed with the quality of the grooming and the lack of crowds (maybe because it was below zero). Here we are at the Middle Falls of the Ammonoosuc River.

A little before this pic was taken last week, around 9:30p, I saw what might be grouse crater in the snow - a divot filled back in with powder, ahead on the trail. It might have been a chunk of ice that had fallen from a tree, but just in case there was something about to go boom in there I started saying out loud, "Are you a grouse?" as I skinned toward it. I'm kicking myself for not pulling out the phone and filming the whole thing because sure enough when I got 4 feet away a grouse blew up out of the snow and the dogs went nuts. Next time.

Nice profile of the mighty Groton Range there, Bob! Knox, Knox East, Butterfield, Burnt and Signal, from left to right. I think.

Nice pix all around!
Checking the RASTA this w/e. For a change, I'm looking forward to letting others open skintrack :)
