Stick a fork in it . . .

Postby Dirk » Mon May 07, 2018 8:10 am

My season is done, but I went out in style. Still top to bottom coverage at Mount Mansfield, for anyone who wants it. Lord/North Slope and Liftline are the best options. I won't be able to make Rob's slackfest, but I hope others do.

Righteous season, Dirk.

Put the skis and related gear away this morning. Mostly in an attempt to shore-up marital harmony, otherwise I'd be perfectly happy to leave the ski boots in the hall leading from the garage through the summer.

Always a chance that I could slack-fest this year...

I'm in hiking/biking mode now. This shot was taken from the eastern slope of Mt. Aeolus, just above the Dorset bat cave. You can see Stratton in the distance and Mount Snow (barely) in the further distance. Stratton still had one slope that looked like it ran top to bottom, but I already put storage wax on the Vectors. Time to move on.

that's a beautiful valley! How are the bats doing, have they returned to the caves yet?

The Nature Conservancy sign said to stay away from the cave through June 1, so I did. From what I read, bat populations in New England are slowly recovering from the massive die-off in 2007.
