The Herminator teles!

Remember Hermann Maier, the Austrian World Cup phenom from the early 2000s? The first minute or two of this German documentary shows him shredding the groomers above Flachau on tele gear. He's got a pretty thick Austrian accent, so I can't follow everything he's saying. Basically, he says he grew up alpine skiing on these slopes, but switched to tele in his retirement years because it's more fun. Who's going to argue with the Herminator?

He needs a lesson. Maybe at Mt Abram on Saturday?

Nice video. Beautiful mountain terrain. Not for the first time, I wish I spoke German.

Actually he really DOES need to pressure the tongue on his downhill boot. When he comes to a stop you can really notice that he's back too far.

My german is not so great but I'm pretty sure he is saying something like "I am a purist and only ski manly tele bindings...". There is some other stuff that probably should not be repeated here. :)

Indeed! Looks like R8s and older Cripsi CXRs on carving skis. I need to get back to the Alps. They're so damn pretty.
