Gnarl Factor 23MAR2014

At 1000 feet the sound on the skintrack was "Crunch, zzzzz, crunch, zzzzzz, crunch, zzzzz, crunch, zzzzzz...." and so on for a long time
Sounds like those can make a fellow worry about conditions higher up.

Things were quieter above 1600 feet and by 2000 feet smiles were louder than the pow. See what I mean?

By 3000 feet giddiness was rampant:

Because of blowdowns on the main line we ventured up into Mystery Glade and tried to rejoin tthe line...but to no avail. We did find a sunny sheltered spot for a bit of lunch at 3400 feet.

We dropped from there., The pow was a little thick but perfectly dry so the accurate turns required in the tightness of Mystery Glade were a cinch! Getting some giddyup on Open Slope was wonderfull. Then came the little glades and traverses over to the Bench and the serious goodies below it.

OMG Drop and Gnarl A Drop were prime. We ripped through Three RocksGlade at a fine pace and then, with a bit of regret rejoined the historic ski trail and headed on down toward the hiking trail. One last spicy drop and we were in the snowshoe luge....

Just the one run, but it was a good one.

Glad to see you got some thick pow instead of thick crust. Beautiful sunny day, soft snow, and untracked, what a perfect combination!
