The Maine Telemark festival and USTSA Race, 2016

Postby Biff » Wed Jan 06, 2016 2:46 pm

The date is set for Saturday, February 6th, 2016 at Mt Abram in Greenville (Locke Mills) Maine.

There will be two free one hour clinics for all abilities taught by the NET teaching staff and demo gear Demo gear from BD, Allspeed, Telemarkdown, Bath Cycle and Speed and The Green Machine plus free beer and an all around good time. (there is also a Bluegrass festival taking place in the lodge featuring The Jerks of Grass)

This year there will be a big bonus to the fest… a sanctioned (and sanctified!) USTSA race that will happen the day of the fest. Everyone is invited to join in as there will be a "citizens race" as well. The course will be huge, from the top of Middle all the way to the bottom with a midway jump and a rap at the bottom.

The fest has been drawing more and more tele skiers every year and with the demise of tele tests should be even bigger this year.

Here is a link to the web site. Please feel free to PM me with any questions.

Nooooooo! I really hate to miss this year's festival with the big race. But I will still be having fun paddling through the Grand Canyon. :D

By the way Biff, I think you mean a sanctioned race, not a sanctified race. Sanctified means it has the pope's personal blessing, which I'm guessing is not the case here. Pope John Paul II was a well-known pinner, but the new guy, not so much.

You gotta love spell check. But I do like the thought that the pope blessed the race. We may need it if the weather doesn't pick up the pace. I may have to get a Buddist monk involved too.

Pope Francis seems to be a pretty good sport. Let's invite him. And the Dalai Lama too. He likes skiing: http://www.slate.com/articles/life/cult ... _life.html

I've been told that there will be an additional $10 charge to enter the race.

Biff - I am guessing that I am no longer welcome in the citizen category. Any additional registration I need to do to be in the expert class?

Absolutely not! You are welcome to be in any category you want. I'm guessing there will be a number of "experts" racing in the Citizens. If you do want to race with the "pros" there is additional registration and a $40 fee I believe.

The pro race starts at 10. The Citizens starts at 12. Two runs.

Thanks for the info. Looking forward to it. Classic races are a blast. Is Cory coming back east for this race since he was one of the drivers to get the pros here?

It's a good question. I have not been in touch with him so I don't know.

Wow… 22 design just sent me a pair of Outlaw NTN bindings to give as a prize for the race. Looks like the top prize for the Citizens class.
