Unfreezing G3 Targa springs

Postby Williamtele » Tue Jun 20, 2017 8:58 am

We have a bunch of skis in our junior program at Waterville that have G3 Targa bindings. Granted they're all pretty old but they have a tendency to freeze up, becoming nonadjustable. I need a technique for unfreezing them and then a strategy for keeping them operating properly. Marine lube?

Any recommendations suggesting Vaseline (and where to put it) will be rejected out-of-hand, so to speak.

Have you tried squirting them with PB Blaster to unfreeze them? Once unfrozen some simple polylube should keep them moving.

I got some Blaster and didn't have much luck. I tried heating them up but only managed to melt the plastic collars. So I'll probably start cannibalizing other sets to find springs that can actually be adjusted. If you have any extras from bygone days, let me know. Cables, too.
