WINTER STORM WARNING

Postby Bob T » Wed Dec 28, 2016 1:13 pm

Remember these? Last winter may have caused can't-recall-what-a-real-winter-is-like malaise. To refresh our collective memories:

Looking good for the Eastside Presi tours and some Westside fill-ins....for a change!

The Moose to Cannon group is looking to get some too.

Watch it in the slides and runnouts folks!

Sweet, that 12-18 inch band is hovering right over the Groton Range. Finally.

when Margusity shrugs it off as "storm after storm" and then casually mentions bigger storms next week....

Yup, could be the cold air wins for a while.....

This storm is really interesting. My house is at 650 ft and there is a nice steady wet snow falling. I went down off of the hill to pick up a pizza and it is raining on Route 117 at an elevation of about 200 feet.

We aren't going to see more than 3 or 4 inches but I thought the elevation difference was cool.

Well...that was a classic bust. At least in my neck of the woods. Need to head to orographically-influenced snow zones.

Looks like Wildcat/Carter Dome ridge and the Presis soaked up all the snow. Wildcat got 2 feet, Mt. Wash got less, even less to the west. the shadowing effect in the Whites seems way stronger than anywhere else in the east.

Lonesome Lake Hut on Cannon is up to 51 inches at 2,700 feet, the snow must be on the east side:

Looks like the summit stake at Mt. Washington has been moved to a better location, where the snow doesn't blow away. We just passed the century mark - 100" base!

*ahem* so winter has taken a short break! Here's a blast from the past - this is the day it all began here in January 2015, only 2 years ago - it would snow 120+ inches in the next month:

MRG weather blog is excited about the weather maker that rolls through at the end of this weekend.

Euro model has trended 6-9 degrees cooler over last two days for us. Can we order another drink please or are we cutoff?

I always think of Mitch when I think about Mammoth. I bet he's kicking himself for missing this epic season….
